Enide participates in DIGITbrain first open call to implement 7 industrial application experiments and get SMEs closer to digital twins.
DIGITbrain is a R&D project funded by the European Commission under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Its name stands for “Digital twins bringing agility and innovation to manufacturing SMEs, by empowering a network of DIHs with an integrated digital platform that enables Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS)”.
DIGITbrain provides SMEs with easy access to digital twins. A Digital Twin is the virtual representation of a product, system or process that simulates its physical attributes in the real-world in real time. By collecting data from its physical counterpart, manufacturers are enabled to streamline the manufacturing process and make predictions with regard to machine failures or maintenance needs. Compared to the digital twin concept, which is increasingly used by manufacturing companies today, the DIGITbrain concept will go one step further by developing the ‘Digital Product Brain‘ which will store data throughout the entire life cycle of a production line or a machine. By collecting all this data, it will be possible to customise and set-up machines / production assets for very specific manufacturing tasks whenever needed. This will enable a new manufacturing model, called Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS), which will allow for on-demand production of much more specialised products, even in smaller quantities and still in an economically profitable way.
DIGITbrain diverse consortium gathers 36 partners from 15 European countries that will work together for 3 years and a half. During its lifetime it will attract further 35-40 collaborators in two Open Calls for experiments, mainly technology and manufacturing SMEs.
During its lifetime, DIGITbrain will support 21 highly innovative cross-border experiments, each bringing together suitable manufacturing end-users, technology providers, research organisations, High Performance Computing providers or Digital Innovation Hubs, in order to implement an individual use case-based Digital Twin.
Companies from the above mentioned groups, located in the EU, a Horizon 2020 associated country or the UK, can apply in one of the two Open Calls, with their specific use case. Experiments can cover all segments of the entire manufacturing sector, e.g. discrete manufacturing, continuous production, or construction.
In its first Open Call, open from March 2021 to June 2021, it will add 7 new experiments, eligible by up to 100K Euros each. The experiments will be integrated into a Digital Marketplace, which provides the necessary graphical user interfaces (GUIs) in view of configuring and monitoring the Digital Brain for an industrialproduct instance and will handle the access rights to the Digital Brain’s instances.
If you are interested in applying, join DIGITbrain webinar on 20th April 2021 to get an overview on the DIGITbrain Open Call Process and prepare the application process. By learning about what DIGITbrain is, which are the expected use cases and what other SMEs like yours have already achieved within the project, you will better hit the narrow target of the Open Call.
ENIDE will contribute the technical aspects related to the service platform, for Combined Model Trusted Traceability Service, SLA Monitoring Service, Infrastructure Deployment Cost Recommendation Service. We will make sure that DIGITbrain technology enhances trust among the community of suppliers and users.
