The 1st 5G-ROUTES Open Call has been officially announced and starts on the 15th of March 2022! The 5G-ROUTES project invites 3rd party SMEs and spin-offs to submit a draft proposal of a CAM service that they would like to bring the CAM service for testing in one of the two cross corridor places of Bikiernecki or Valga-Valka in the border of Estonia-Latvia.
To conduct advanced field trials of most representative and innovative CAM applications seamlessly functioning across a designated 5G cross-border corridor (‘Via Baltica-North’) spanning across 3 EU member states borders (Latvia-Estonia-Finland) in order to validate the latest 5G features and 3GPP specifications under realistic conditions, to accelerate the widespread deployment of 5G E2E interoperable CAM ecosystems and services in digitized motorways, railways and shipways throughout Europe.
5G Routes is a R&D project funded by the European Commission under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Its name stands for “5th Generation connected and automated mobility cross-border EU trials”.
5G Routes will conduct advanced field trials of most representative and innovative Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) applications across a designated 5G cross-border corridor spanning in Latvia-Estonia-Finland. The project aims to validate the latest 5G features and 3GPP specifications under realistic conditions.

•To develop innovative and commercially exploitable CAM use cases for automotive, railway and maritime sectors within the cross-border context.
• To analyze the technical and business requirements for the use cases to enable extensive large-scale CAM field trials in the ‘Via Baltica-North’ 5G corridor.
• To advance and optimize the enabling technologies using AI for the reliable, seamless and uninterrupted delivery of interoperable CAM services across borders.
• To integrate the technological enablers in an end-to end CAM ecosystem, to setup the
5G corridor and to facilitate lab and large-scale field trial validation.
• To demonstrate the potential and the user value in advanced CAM deployments at cross-border areas.
• To develop and validate the business models of advanced CAM use cases.
• To identify and validate applicable standards, as well as provide rationalized contribution to key standardization bodies.
• To ensure long-term success through wide dissemination of the project’s results; to exploit synergies with other 5G-PPP projects and 5G CAM initiatives.

ENIDE will be involved in the requirements analysis, use cases and preparation for CAM trials. In particular, ENIDE will put at the consortium’s disposal its expertise as IT developers by collecting both business and technical requirements, which will further define the different uses cases and support the development of technological enablers for the foreseen CAM trials. ENIDE will also support from a technical perspective all the use cases. However, it will have a major involvement in use cases related to its expertise and background in IT applied to Connected Maintenance and Goods tracking in Multi-modal Logistics.
Also, in Large-scale cross-border CAM field trials, ENIDE will support the rest of the partners in the planning, use case set up and operational management. ENIDE will also play a major role in large-scale crossborder field trials execution. More concretely, ENIDE will contribute to Connected maintenance and Goods tracking visibility in multimodal cross border logistics.
Under WP5 Commercialization, Innovation management and standardization, ENIDE will take part in the innovation, data management and IPR activities well as the business approach and business plan definition by exploiting input from end users which will validate the commercialisation potential of the related use cases. ENIDE will have a major role in impact assessment and cost/benefit analysis.
Finally, ENIDE will lead Quality Assurance and Risk Management, designing and implementing the quality assurance procedures.
